Pets age faster than we do; therefore, major health issues can occur in as little as three months. It is for this reason we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Through check-ups and preventive care we can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We have excellent surgeons on staff, and one is usually in the building during our open hours in case your pet needs emergency surgery.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Pre-anesthetic blood checks are usually required prior to anesthesia induction for your pet's safety.
Internal medicine consults: For medical problems which may be out of our scope, Midland Animal Clinic is affiliated with several specialty hospitals for easy referral. This may include such specialties as an internal medicine specialist who can perform ultrasounds, endoscopic procedures, and MRI's, a cardiologist for complex heart problems, oncology for those pets with malignant cancers and a variety of other disciplines to help us with the diagnosis and treatment of some complicated cases. We have an Ultrasound/Internal medicine specialist who will come to Midland Animal Clinc for diagnostic ultrasonography and consultations. This is by appointment only.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. Our radiograph machine is capable of taking OFA films even on large dogs. Our dental radiographs are new generation digital and we routinely do full mouth views on all prophys. We also have a screening ultrasound which is helpful in identifying certain medical conditions.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services which are connected to a cardiology specialist consultation service.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental x-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. We take digital radiographs (dental x-rays) on most of our dental prophy patients as well as provide them with necessary pain medications. Dr. Zorn has had specialized training in dental procedures.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations. The results are often received within 24 to 48 hours.
Permanent identification: We encourage the use of microchip identification and are currently using the Bayer Res Q chip which can be recognized all over the world. All pets, including cats (which frequently do not wear collars with identification), should be protected with a micro-chip.
Pharmacy: We maintain a large inventory of pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, herbals, medicated shampoos, heartworm and parasite preventives, and flea and tick control products to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a number of prescription diets including Hill's, Royal Canin, IAMS and Purina Veterinary lines. We can special order a variety of sizes as well as other prescription diets as needed.
Flea Control Programs: We can help you develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling: We can provide some advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. There are new drugs for behavioral issues being actively developed. We have certain drugs and pheromone products in stock if your pet should be a candidate for pharmacological behavioral help.
Boarding: Midland Animal Clinic provides pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.
Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available on an appointment basis.
Emergency Care: Please call our main telephone number (989) 631-0220 for instructions for after-hour emergencies.
